Petes LeLoup Fundraising for WWMT

I'm raising funds for Street Doctors and other youth charities with the William Waites Memorial Trust

Le Loop follows the official route of the Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals and finishes 21 stages later in Paris, some 3,400kms later.

Riders tackle one of a selection of "Loops" riding anything from 2 to all 21 stages of the Tour de France route. Every participant commits to raising a minimum amount for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). The fundraised money is entirely separate from the participation fee - donations do not pay for my Tour

All monies raised go directly to the William Wates Memorial Trust whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.

It's been a tough couple of years for charities and particularly for young people. This is my chance to give something back and help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.

Le Loop is no small undertaking. Riding even ONE stage of the Tour de France route is going to hurt! Please reward my pain by giving generously.

Merci!

More training - our Annual Brighton Ride

Friday 23rd Jun
I usually ride to Brighton annually with a group of friends, but this one was more serious with less than 2 weeks to go before we're riding Le Loop in the alps.  The bikes will be packed up to go in a week so we're in the last few big training rides.

Regular Leith Ride

Wednesday 14th Jun
Sometimes the Leith rides are called "The Octopus" if you go up or down a few different routes.  This one was more like "The hampster".
Anyway another training ride knocked off.  Under 3 weeks now.

Isle of Wight MTB ride - Chaotic for me

Wednesday 14th Jun
It was a long planned trip to the IoW but my planning was non-existent.  I'd managed to lock my normal bike into work for the weekend (leaving drinks Friday!) and along with it most of my kit.
My only option was to take a Mountain Bike and ride a shorter route than all the others.   Also with my usual GPS unavailable I had to use a phone - with erratic results as you see from the plot.   And I rode in trainers (no clips) and finally by back brakes fell out.  My fault.  So from Freshwater I bolted back for the ferry through the middle of the island hoping to avoid any more dramas.   End result was an rather chaotic, wet day, and some more miles towards the impending Loops clocked up.

S3P Training run

Monday 24th Apr
S3P training on Sunday, almost dodging the rain showers.

To Dover and Back

Tuesday 18th Apr
An epic training weekend with Chris, Mark and Charlie, we cycled down to Kingsdown on Saturday (165km) and back via the coset on Sunday (195km) Quite broken now but getting more used to the miles. And thanks everyone for your kind support!

Cornwall Training ride in April - St Anthony Point with Dan

Wednesday 12th Apr
Plenty of short sharp hills - expected 1300m climbing but got 1700m

You're doing a wonderful thing here Pete, and so are the charities you are supporting. It's so painful to see such disadvantaged young people miss out on the security, love and laughter that we take for granted. These youngsters are amazing, I've met the young carers who turn up to school exhausted, or the neglected and abused who don't want to go home at the end of the day. They deserve safety, care and good people in their lives and all the help they can get. On ya Pete, pedal your little legs off! B x
