Le Loop - supporting the William Wates Memorial Trust
Le Loop follows the official route of the Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals and finishes 21 stages later in Paris
On Friday 26th June 2026 I will be one of around 100 riders that will gather in Barcelona for the 'Grand Depart'. I am hoping to complete the first 9 stages of this years route. The route runs from Barcelona through the Pyrenees and into the Massif. Central: 1454 km (915 miles) with 20405m of climbing over the 9 days, with 3 big mountain days.
I am raising money for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). The fundraised money is entirely separate from the participation fee - donations do not pay for my Tour.
All monies raised go directly to the William Wates Memorial Trust whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.
It's been a tough couple of years for charities and particularly for young people. This is my chance to give something back and help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.
Le Loop is no small undertaking. Riding even ONE stage of the Tour de France route is going to hurt! The former Tour champion Bernard Hinault advised
"An amateur should think long and hard before attempting one of these Tour de France stages. Two would probably necessitate visiting a doctor, and three would require a psychiatrist".
Please reward my efforts by giving generously.
Merci!

Good luck Jonathan. Did an evening fracture clinic with you. You bought me a Magnam as a thank you. Didn't have the heart to say that I hate ice cream. Always an Ortho nurse.

Brains, you are an absolute legend! Well done, good luck and most of all enjoy. Hoping for good weather for you and sorry that I can't be there to ride with you. Big hugs Jo, Amaya and all the boys xx
