This summer I'm taking on an significant cycling challenge: Le Loop.
Many of you already know that I spend a fair amount of hours on some form of bicycle each year – but each year I am also trying to put some of these hours to good use in order to support a good cause. For 2023 I have selected to raise money for the William Wates Memorial Trust via Le Loop.
Le Loop is an organization that has been organizing this event in support of the WWMT since 2012 and their course always exactly follows the official route of the Tour de France, exactly one week ahead of the professionals.
This year I will be joined in my efforts by my brother Guido and together we will try to complete the first half (9 stages) of the Tour de France. Every participant commits to raising a minimum amount for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT): My goal is to raise GBP5,000 this year.
Of course all of the fundraised money is entirely separate from the participation fee (ie. donations do not pay for my Tour) and goes directly to the William Wates Memorial Trust. Their mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people. Keeping them away from a life of crime and violence and support them in fulfilling their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education. (for more information please check The William Wates Memorial Trust - William Wates Memorial Trust (rideleloop.org))
It's been a tough couple of years for charities and particularly for young people. This is my chance to give something back and help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.
I hope that you will be able to join me supporting this good cause and donate generously.
Good luck Arno 👍🚴
