Firstly, if you're reading this, it means you clicked on the link to find out more about my participation in the Le Loop challenge in 2023 - so thank you very much for taking the time to do so!
In 2023, I am undertaking something pretty epic/foolhardy...depending on your point of view.
"Le Loop" is a cycling challenge that follows the ENTIRE official route of the Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals and finishes 21 stages later in Paris - day for day - alp for alp - all 3,500km of the thing.
Now, I'll take care of paying for the trip (100% of your donation will go straight to the charity, not to pay me to ride my bike!)...I'll also do all of the pedalling, the training, and might even share a blog of my trials and tribulations and all that jazz....but before we get there I do need your help. The good news is that its for something really worthwhile.
Every participant commits to raising a minimum amount for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). They are a charity whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.
I'm a dad, and nothing is more important to me than ensuring my kids have the opportunity to live the best life they can - so doing something to raise money to help other less fortunate, but equally brilliant, kids to thrive and develop is hugely meaningful to me. I hope you feel the same. Any contribution would be amazing, and would really mean a lot to me.
As you might imagine, Le Loop is no small undertaking. Riding even ONE stage of the Tour de France route is going to hurt.....riding 100+miles a day, every day, for 21 days......let's see!
