I'm taking on "Le Loop", an epic cycling challenge

Le Loop rides the official route of the Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals and finishes 21 stages later in Paris, some 3,400kms later.

Every participant commits to raising a minimum amount for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). The funds raised are entirely separate from the participation fee - donations do not pay for my Tour

All monies raised go directly to the WWMT, whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.

It's been a tough couple of years for charities and particularly for young people. This is my chance to give something back and help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.

Le Loop is no small undertaking. Riding even ONE stage of the Tour de France route is going to hurt! Please reward my pain by giving generously.

Merci!

Martin

Just short of my target

Monday 28th Aug
Hi everyone
Le Loop are about to close fund raising and I’m about £200 short of my target.
Now I’ve completed all 21 stages if you feel able to add to your donation, we might just be able to get across the line and further support vulnerable youth stay away from a life of crime.
Thanks
Martin

Seven stages done

Follow the pictures and action on Facebook or Polarsteps. All going well and we started the event with the highest funds raised at that that point, ever !! Many thanks to all who donated. Its an international peloton of riders, here’s me with a Canadian

It's getting real !

Thanks for everyone for the generous donations that make this event so worthwhile.

The hard work for the Loopers is begin soon, as we head to Europe to ride "Le Loop."

While the pros start the Tour de France on 1 July, "Le Loop" riders will ride the same route one week earlier, tackling 3,404km of hills, mountain climbs, descents and time trails ... albeit considerably slower !

Here's the route ... enjoy watching it.

Loopers made it !

Monday 3rd Apr

The 4 Loopers and 3 others all completed our Everest on Saturday, in the dark ! Thanks for your wonderful support and knowing it was for such a worthwhile cause helped us all push through the rain. We are short of the target, so if you know anyone who could donate please feel free to forward them the link to this site. Here are some images from the day.
