Le Loop - Day 1 ( Stage 14 of the TdF

Day 1 - a tough way to start Le Loop with over 200K and more than 1/2 way up Everest (with every type of weather being thrown at us).  Scenery didn't disappoint but very happy to roll into the hotel at the end of the day.

My Achievements

My Updates

Le Loop - Day 6 ( Stage 19 of the TdF)

Thursday 24th Jul
As if yesterday wasn't hard enough, hot on its heels is Stage 19, the last mountain stage and my last day with Le Loop this year.

Albertville to La Plagne via Col de Saisies, du Pre and Cormet de Roselend.

Legs felt OK but the body and mind were starting to fatigue due to the lack of sleep (repeated 5.15am alarms to get the coach for the transfer to the start).

Amazing to reach the top of La Plagne with my chums old and new.

Ride on.....

Le Loop - Day 5 ( Stage 18 of the TdF)

Thursday 24th Jul
The Queen's stage, officially the toughest day of the whole tour, and the toughest Queen's stage since 1983.  190km over 3 monster HC climbs of Col de Glandon, de la Madeleine and de la Loze ending up at 2,304 meters (7,559 ft) having accumulated 5,296m of climbing for the day.  Massive day.

Le Loop Stage 4/6, TdF Stage 17

Wednesday 16th Jul
A relatively “easy” and flat day (only 1600m of climbing morphed into an attritional day thanks to stonking headwind thanks to the Mistral blowing a steady 25kph gusting 50kph.  Definitely a day for a team effort, sharing the wind-breaking role. Glad it’s over but that means next up is tomorrow… Eeeek

Le Loop - Day 3 ( Stage 16 of the TdF

Tuesday 15th Jul
A hot hot day with 180km to get to Mt Ventoux and then having to climb it in 36 degree heat....  Scorchio..

Le Loop - Day 2 ( Stage 15 of the TdF

Monday 14th Jul
What on paper looked like an easy day compared to yesterday turned out to be another tough day.  A brutal climb hiding in the middle of the route sapped the legs and made for a tough day.  Stunning scenery and the lack of rain, hail, thunder and lightning made up for it though

And so it begins

Friday 11th Jul
I’m sat on a TGV to Pau filled with a heady mix of trepidation and excitement. Tomorrow sees the start of the Mountain week which no doubt is going to require a bit of effort and mental fortitude.

Having ridden 3 stages in the Pyrenees last year I have a sense of what is to come, which both comforts and concerns me.

I thank you all for your very kind sponsorship, it makes a massive difference to the charity, and to me to be so well supported. Rather than update you individually during the week I’ll endeavour to post here.

Many many thanks again.

Philip
