I'm taking on the first three stages of this year's Le Loop
Le Loop follows the official route of the Tour de France, one week ahead of the professionals and finishes 21 stages later in Paris, some 3,400kms later.
I'll be doing 3 stages of the Tour de France route this year all in an effort to raise some money for the William Wates Memorial Trust. Every participant commits to raising a minimum amount for the William Wates Memorial Trust (WWMT). The fundraised money is entirely separate from the participation fee - donations do not pay for my Tour.
All monies raised go directly to the William Wates Memorial Trust whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.
It's been a difficult few years for charities and particularly for young people. So I'm trying to help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.
Le Loop is no small undertaking. Riding even ONE stage of the Tour de France route is going to hurt! Please reward my foolishness by giving generously.
Bilbao boundFriday 23rd Jun After a little trouble working out how we can even make the trip we've finally crossed over the border into Spain by train. Another 2 hours till Bilbao and then a briefing for tomorrows ride. A big one tomorrow with the most climbing of all the 3 days Share
Last day in BiarritzFriday 23rd Jun Another 66km done today, a much flatter and nicer ride along the river today with perfect weather. Went for a little stroll to the beach after and now off to dinner. Tomorrow we're on to Bilbao Share
First ride in France doneFriday 23rd Jun Just under 50km done today. Was fairly miserable and rainy but it's done and all good prep, off to dinner and on to tomorrow Share
