505

By Peter Thompson

I am raising funds to support the William Wates Memorial Trust whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the medium of sports, arts and education.

It's been a tough couple of years for charities and particularly for young people. This is my chance to give something back and help support young people who aren't lucky enough to enjoy the advantages in life that most of us take for granted.

Thank you for supporting me!

The 505

Sunday 28th Jan
Party on a bike? Well sort of! To celebrate my 50th year I will take on some epic challenges whilst raising money and awareness for a great cause.

The challenges

1.   2014 Yorkshire Stage 1 of The De France – 128 miles + 9,000 ft elevation

Yorkshire is my place of birth and my spiritual home, this route is one of my favourite ever rides. Its super challenging however filled with amazing countryside (gods country if you believe Yorkshire folk)

2.   Frank Whitton route (Lakes) – 112 mile + 12,000 ft elevation

Just looks amazing and brutal, right up my street

3.   Alps loop (my own creation) 113 miles + 18,000 ft elevation

3 major cols in a day!

When I fell in love with cycling it wasn’t until I got to the French Alps in 2013 that I knew this was a super serious love affair… I have cycled all over the world and theres nothing quite like the Alps!

4.   Ventoux triple https://lnkd.in/eyHYi53u 84 miles + 15,000 elevation

The giant of province… we have a bit of history… (it kicked my a**** ! in 2013 time to regain some respect :)

5.   Cyprus – 130 miles + 4000 ft elevation

One end of the Island to the other…. I think fairly flat however long and hot. It will definitely be concluded with amazing Cypriot cuisine and a recovery drink (Keo Beer)

The target, I called the challenges the #505 – 50 years old + 5 events, so why not try raise £5000!

The charity, I am very proud to be support the Amazing team at Ride LeLoop and William Wates charity Trust. They are the most inspiring team.

Le Loop raises money for the William Wates Memorial Trust, helping the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfil their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the mediums of sport, arts and education.

Any support is most welcome, whether that be a donation, an energy bar, coffee, inner tube or just a pat on the back.

Of course and obviously the events take a lot of planning, training and cost. Anyone willing to help with sponsorship even it’s a bit of training equipment every little help.....
